Added the ability to attach names to Stories. You can find stories under People in the main menu of your Family Tree

* You can attach one or more names to each story. Attached names are display on the right side of the story.

* Increased the size of the attached photo thumbnails

* Moved the thumbnails to the right and below the story (if there are several photos)

* In the Family View, if the name has stories then links to the stories will be displayed at the bottom of the Family View.

There is a button called Photos (see image below). That will take you to the page to add photos. You can delete the story once you click the "Edit Story" button.

Family Tree : Stories + Names

Completely ridiculous set up.. These LINKS should all be on the STORY in EDIT as you are composing. Jumping back and forth as i mentioned is useless. This does not allow you to put photographs between paragraphs. You have not gained by dong this. It is worse than your 35 mm strip . I told you how five years before you decided to add photos, as I added them the first day STORIY page appeared on Tribal Pages.

Please take notice, and add these Links as you first START to compose your STORY. It is completely useless to jump back and forth, when you can do it all on the STORY PAGE

Hoping that you will see your folly

Also DELETE BUTTON is faulty

Les

Hi Les, thanks for the feedback. We fixed the delete button.

We agree that the Photo and Name buttons being outside the Edit Story is inconvenient. We are working on it.

This innovation will certainly avoid the use of code to get from and to a named person's Story and Family page. I think it would also be advantageous, if it is possible, to insert a button at the end of a long Story to get to the top to click the Name button - or move the Name button to the bottom of the story.

Hi Ted for years I have been using this small amount of HTML code

a name="top"></a>

There doesn’t need to be anything between the opening and closing tags. Then, in the bottom of page put this link,

<a href="#top">link to top</a>

All the best

Les

You can add this to any of your existing Stories

Check thi one of mine.

ALONG WAY TO BOTTOM to see he top,LINK

Hi Ted did not mention, as I assume that you know.

Your Keyboard has Page Up and Page down key also HOME and END Keys, and also if you use Ctrl F you can search.

Small box appears at top right. Just enter a few letters and the Item or Items will be Highlighted.

All the best

That's great I like what you have done. However in "Stories" I have stories about living people that I don't want to make public. I also have stories about deceased persons that I would like to be available to anyone and not just family members and guests. Is there any chance that you can make some provision for this.

Hi Alan try this in one of your TEST STORIES

USING <!-- >

USING <!-- //>

at the commencement of your STORY

USE <!-- story story story and at the end use this !-- //>

You put your STORY between the < and ending >

Let me know how you get on.

You should not be able to see the STORY only you when you open EDIT

All the Best

Hi Les,

I will have a look when I get a chance. At present it appears to me that I would have to have my privacy settings as non private if I want non family tree members to view something in my Stories section. I am not going to use that setting for obvious reasons. Therefore I am stuck with only invited family and guests being able to view anything in the Stories section.

Regards,

Alan,

Les,

What privacy setting are you using for your tree. I have just had a look and living people are private and yet I can view your stories. I am not a family member or guest but your stories are open to me.

Anyone viewing my tree who is not a family member or guest is asked to sign in before they can view Stories. That differs from your site.

I am using medium privacy. If I look at "custom" there is nothing there to cover stories that I can see.

Thanks Les. I will leave Stories and my privacy as they are, at present. I could make some stories for deceased persons visible to all by putting the story in the persons notes and an index of these on the home page with a link to the person. In fact I have already done this in 2 or 3 cases without having information on the home page.

I will have a think about this in due course. Thanks for your comments. Much appreciated.

I would like to see the story link moved up. Currently, in family view, it's not located in the area of the individual - you have to scroll down (below all the children) to the bottom of the page to see it.

I would like it to be placed be under Photos to the left of the name. That seems more logical than putting it under all their children. The logic here is that it's the individual that's tied to the story, not the family.
