Hi folks...

Went to Ancestry and found a ton of additional info for my tree. Can I upload the Ancestry gedcom to my existing TribalPages tree and have it amend what I have or will it overwrite and will I end up losing all my pictures, associations etc.?

Hi Jason if there is twice as much on the GEDCOM you update, this will then overwrite your old GEDCOM. However much is on there OVERWRITES your original

Photographs are not uploaded/ You cannot pick just a few items.

If you try to do that you would be uploading a very small NEW GEDCOM

Regards

Les

Thanks Les...

Looks like I'll be spending time manually adding info to TribalPages. Doesn't give me a lot of confidence in TribalPages I have to admit.

Jason, I have trees on Ancestry which are linked to my Family Tree Maker programme on my PC and was wondering if I could keep the Tribal Pages trees up to date by uploading a new GEDCOM tree. Looks like we will both be entering a lot of information - great fun when you have eight trees on Tribal Pages!

Its nothing to do with the Tribalpages system. That's the way gedcoms work.

GEDCOM is pure text and very easily edited witn any text editor. You can merge the 2 texts, sort them and delete duplicates.
