We are very happy to announce the availability of our real-time GEDCOM imports.  This new tool solves one of the biggest issues we've faced: the nightly GEDCOM runs and the delays associated with it.

A special thanks to everyone who's been patient with us as we've developed this.  It is a major change and needed significant testing.  It will certainly have some bugs to iron out over the next few days, but we're fairly confident you'll be happy with the improvement.

How to Use the New GEDCOM Imports

First, choose to the "Upload GEDCOM" link on the Quick Links section of your Edit Page.

You will be taken to the GEDCOM management page, where you can backup your site to GEDCOM or upload a new GEDCOM to replace the content on your site.  Select the file you would like to import by using the Browse button and finding the file on your computer:

When you have selected your file, click the "Send File!" button.
You will be taken to a confirmation page that shows basic statistics from your new file and allows you to cancel the process. To complete the Import, click "Import Names".

Your GEDCOM file will be processed and will replace your current tree contents.  Note that for very large trees, this can take a short amount of time (usually seconds, but up to minutes).  You will receive confirmation via email that your import was processed.

When your import is complete, click "Done" to return to Editing your site.
